mat's bit on nurses and the state of nurses in the country is powerful and enlightening. I knew they were underpaid, but it's not easy to sympathize with a situation until someone like he ( and the amazing harper) point us towards it -- which , I think, is also part of the problem. should we have to be pointed to it ? I mean, I personally know teachers are underpaid, as I think most of us know, but then what ? we need action to resolve these long talked about issues.

I'm approaching age 30 and my body feels like it's already there. kalen joined the hollywood Y up the street, where I am a member, so now I'm going again after an 8 week hiatus, easily imposed with the banner to "clear up my lungs" from not smoking. so we played raquetball sunday and basketball yesterday. I am not good at basketball. I wrestled in the winter at high school. I played a season when I was a kid, and I think I averaged like 2 points per game. so what started yesterday as a one on one game turned into a 2 on 2 game, then it was six on six. I wanted to quit after the first two on two game, but we were pressured to continue. by the third game of 6 on 6, I was red-faced and my eyes felt like they were bulging from my skull. I resembled ozzy working out for his tour. at one point I tried to intercept a pass with my leg, and the ball deflected into an opposing team member's face. then I was faked out so badly the guy was laughing about it. that asshole. part of me wanted to scream " ok, wanna wrestle, huh ? what about soccer?" luckily I kept my mouth shut.
kalen fared pretty well although he hasn't exercised in some time. he's 21, so it can't be that bad.
either way we learned our lesson and made reservations for a raquetball court on the way out.

I work at best buy, which is an electronics universe filled with mystery and intrigue. did I make it sound grand ? I should, That's My Job !! I love best buy, mainly because of the new people I meet every day. It's like a friend factory, new ones just keep walking in ! On the main floor is where the magic happens. that's the area where we help customers find Best Buys , Like the Store Name ! I am only supposed to go on the main floor an hour a day, but Marc, one of my bosses, says it'll be a cold day when I get out there, and Guess What ? Winter isn't Too far away !!
I will be ready to go on the floor when Winter comes, and I have some Neat Ideas that May help me get there sooner !

greetings from new york city. this town sure is great. beats the hell out of los angeles. I think I'm staying for a couple more weeks, or until I've ruined all of my friendships up here, whichever happens first. I've been splitting time between brooklyn and manhattan. this is my first time to see brooklyn, and I like it. a lot. neighborhood-y and full of young vivrant folk. a good bit of larry's around, which suits annie just fine as she lives in the heart of it.
i've had a shitty issue I'm currently in the middle of trying to resolve, or attempt to resolve. not fun. especially now while i'm up here supposedly to get away. this time I'm determined to get it worked out, as opposed to running and supressing, as is my usual response. in the heat of this shit I journeyed today to the east village to get an eyebrow piercing. I wanted desperately to shake it up and feel some pain. couldn't get it though, as I have had a recent rash near my eyes ( see juice fast ). sucks. oh well, maybe in a couple of months I can try again.

I leave tomorrow morning for two weeks. first I'm going to winter park , fl. to see my niece and, hopefully, my other new niece my sister will have given birth to by the time I arrive. Last time I was there as she was in labor and I waited outside her door at the hospital for what seemed like hours as she was trying to deliver. that was very hard for both of us - it ain't easy hearing your sis going through a lot of pain - they almost had to do a c section becasue little reese was apparently quite comfy up in the womb.
after winterpark I am off to new york city to visit annie and my old friend chris white. I can't wait. so all of you take care until then and I may have a guest blogger or two drop in to finally provide some content worth a damn here.

a friend just emailed to tell me that comedy central needed a new music geek for beat the geeks , so I called them and they quizzed me on the phone. I know a decent amount of music trivia, but the questions he asked me were tough. debbie gibson's 2 albums in the 80's, a former lead singer of thin lizzy, dr. dre's dj group before NWA, the list goes on. I knew one of them. as he was asking, I was furiously trying to get the info from all music guide on the computer, but I couldn't get the page to load fast enough. I'm probably better at the movie trivia these days anyway.
